This is an account of a month spent living on the coast of Brittany in a boat the size of a small floating wardrobe with two friends, Dave and Ceci (though not both at the same time), and the experiences we had both on and off the water – particularly those of Dave, who headed off into the heart of Brittany armed only with a baguette, his pill-box hat and his rucksack of sorrows – having decided to leave his waterproof hiking boots with us on Merlin. Events were to prove just how unfortunate this decision was…
